Job Title: Accountant Reports to: Senior Accountant and Finance Director Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4-6 years of experience or more in accounting/finance
- Good communication skills
Position Summary: The accountant’s is responsible for preparing accounting reports/data and safeguarding the establishment’s assets by controlling the collections against the receivables. He/she is the primary contact with the parents, and accordingly, he/she should be ready to answer all their inquiries and assist them when needed. Major Duties and Responsibilities The accountant’s duties include:
- receiving the payments from parents and issuing the system generated receipt
- allocating the received payments to the specific parent and fee head
- recording financial activities regarding budgeted funds
- processing purchasing orders, reviewing check requests, preparing checks to settle bills, posting ledgers, reconciling monthly and yearly accounts, and maintaining balanced accounts
- compiling, filing, and maintaining records and reports ensure accuracy and accountability
- assisting the parents by answering accounting procedure questions
- checking the parents’ statements for any discrepancies or deviations, and taking an immediate action to rectify the issue with the direct supervisor
- maintaining the school and parents’ financial information confidentiality
- contributing to team’s effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- reporting to the senior accountant all financial matters that have impact on the parents
- committing to finalizing the work and meeting the required deadlines
- ensuring compliance with the accounting standards and the internal policies and procedures
- coordinating with other departments for the proper flow of work
- issuing the petty cash payments approved by the management
- performing other duties as requested by the senior accountant and finance director
