Job Title: Nurse Reports to: HOS and Superintendent Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or any related field
  • Three years or more of experience in the same field

Position Summary The nurse is in charge for providing health services to ensure students’ physical growth and well-being. He/She treats students’ injuries or illnesses, and advises students, their parents or guardians, and staff on health issues. The school nurse assesses the school environment to prevent injury and ensure safety, monitors students’ immunization, manages communicable diseases, and develops plans for student care. Major Duties and Responsibilities The teacher’s duties include:

  • promoting healthy habits among students and staff, such as proper nutrition and hygiene
  • collecting students’ medical records and vaccination records, uploading them on the school portal, and updating them as needed
  • providing immediate healthcare to students and staff in case of illness or injury
  • developing health plans for students with chronic disease or disabilities
  • coordinating students’ vision, hearing, and dental screening
  • monitoring the school environment for health hazards and offering recommendations to the concerned party
  • writing referrals for health specialists for intervention, remediation, and follow-up
  • communicating students’ health statuses to the parents and concerned school personnel
  • utilizing existing health resources to provide appropriate care and education for students
  • playing a leadership role in the control of communicable diseases at the school
  • playing a leadership role in developing procedures for the management of injuries and illnesses
  • counseling students in matters related to smoking and substance abuse to promote responsible decision-making practices
  • coordinating the school’s health activities and serving as a liaison between the school and Qatar’s Ministry of Health
  • ensuring compliance with Qatar’s Ministry of Health and the school’s Health and Safety Policy
  • maintaining a clean, disinfected, and organized clinic
  • maintaining clean, organized, and sterilized equipment and tools
  • keeping records on all students who get treated
  • administering medication to students in need upon parents’ approval
  • providing screening for lice and recommending treatment
  • performing other duties as assigned by the HOS and superintendent
